Dr. Elwood is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) at the University of British Columbia and the Medical Lead, Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Control Liaison at B.C. Women’s Hospital. She spearheads the BC Women’s Hospital antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) teaching rounds, which provides a practical teaching approach in scope and application to OB/GYN trainees.

Dr. Elwood earned her Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree and her Masters in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Western Ontario. Following, she received her Medical Doctorate at the University of British Columbia.

Dr. Elwood’s main research interest involves investigating the role of HIV and the vaginal microbiome in triggering preterm birth and shaping the infant microbiome.
