Kate Salters is a Research Scientist with the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS and joined the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University in January 2019. Dr. Salters’ research focuses on epidemiological investigations into HIV- and hepatitis-specific health outcomes, treatment outcomes, and patterns of health care engagement. She is the co-PI of the “Per-SVR study”, which is a prospective cohort of patients who have recently achieved SVR following treatment for hepatitis C. She also conducts implementation science research, including new clinical interventions that aim to improve the hepatitis C cascade of care for under-served populations. Dr. Salters completed her PhD in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University in 2017 and her doctoral work focused on the epidemiology of cancer among women living with HIV. She has been working in the field of HIV/AIDS since 2009 and has developed expertise in observational cohort research and community-based research methods. She is passionate about conducting epidemiological research that engages community and clinicians in order to inform health service delivery and address health inequities.
