4th Canadian HIV and Aging Symposium

Join Realize and the CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network Clinical Care Management Core at the 4h Canadian HI & Ageing Symposium — HIV and Aging WELL: WE Live & Learn Together. The event will take place over three days in Calgary and online.

This event will facilitate information exchange and feature a diverse group of esteemed speakers and panelists, each with a unique perspective on the intersection of HIV and aging, including:

  • Older adults and people aging with HIV
  • Clinical, community-based and academic researchers
  • Healthcare providers
  • Policy change advocates

Themes include: optimizing quality of life, preventing comorbidity, future care and support, and optimizing sexuality.  The full agenda is currently being finalized and will be posted soon!

The third day of the symposium will feature a policy dialogue exploring ageism in the HIV/HCV/STBBI response in Canada. We will review the work Realize is doing to address this important issue and hear from community members and frontline staff who deliver aging care and/or STBBI prevention, care, treatment and support services.  Participants will increase their knowledge of existing public health and aging policies and establish and strengthen community connections.
