Dr. Hugo Soudeyns is a professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Infectiology at the Université de Montréal. He also holds the position of researcher at CHU Sainte-Justine.
He earned his PhD in microbiology and immunology at McGill University and completed his postdoctoral studies in the immunopathology of HIV/AIDS at the Centre hospitalier universitaire Vaudois in Switzerland.
Dr. Soudeyns’ research is aimed at three areas of HIV/AIDS research: (1) the pathogenesis of hepatitis C in pregnancy and childhood, (2) the reconstitution of antiviral immunity in transplanted children, and (3) the long-term remission of HIV in children and adolescents.
Dr. Soudeyns is the principal investigator for CTN 281: EPIC 4 Study, which is aiming to determine whether early use of combination anti-retroviral therapy in vertically transmitted cases results in a state of HIV suppression that can be controlled without further drug use.
