Dr. Madeleine Durand is an assistant clinical professor at the Université de Montréal and a principal scientist at the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal. She is the Core Co-Lead for the CTN’s Clinical Care and Management Core, along with Dr. Jason Brophy.
She earned her medical degree from the Université de Laval, as well as a diploma as a Fellow in Internal medicine at the Université de Montréal. She also obtained two master’s degrees: one in biomedical sciences from the Université de Montréal, and one in epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
Dr. Durand’s research interests include co-morbidities related to aging in patients living with HIV and medico-administrative health care databases.
She is a principal investigator for CTN 272 along with Cécile Tremblay. The study is investigating accelerated aging in people living with HIV, looking in particular at cardiovascular disease. It is also looking to develop tools for analyzing chemical signals in the blood that may help further understanding of many aging related health issues like heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, memory loss, and brittle bones.
Dr. Durand is also involved with CTN 268: ANRS IPERGAY, an international study involved participants and investigators from both Canada and France.
