Dr. Michael Hawkes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Medicine. He was a CIHR post-doctoral fellow from 2012 to 2013.

Dr. Hawkes completed his Bachelor of Engineering at McGill University in 1997. He then went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Alberta, and completed his PhD at the University of Toronto. His research interests lie at the interface of basic and clinical science, and he aims to translate state-of-the-art scientific findings to clinically relevant strategies for the improvement of outcomes in global pediatrics infections.
